About Sole & Sheet

Independent, plain-English help with Making Tax Digital, for people who'd rather understand the rules than sign up to another platform.

Why we exist

From April 2027, more than a million more landlords and sole traders will have to keep digital records and report to HMRC every quarter. Most MTD help comes from software companies who want you on their platform. We think many people just want clear answers and a tidy spreadsheet they control.

What we do

  • Write plain-English guides that explain the rules properly.
  • Build spreadsheets that do the quarterly sums and work with any bridging software.
  • Keep prices low and one-off: £4.99 per product, no subscriptions.

How we check our facts

Every rule, rate, and date is checked against GOV.UK, and each page and product shows when it was last checked. Each tax year gets a new, dated edition. Where we draw on other sources, such as the National Residential Landlords Association's landlord guidance, we credit them by name. Those organisations haven't reviewed or endorsed our products.

What we're not

We're not accountants, and we don't file your tax for you. Our products are general information and record-keeping tools, not tax advice. We're not affiliated with HMRC.
